Mother’s Day history and a gift for mom!

The idea for a “Mother’s Day” is credited by some to Julia Ward Howe (1872) and by others to Anna Jarvis (1907), who both suggested a holiday dedicated to a day of peace. Many individual states celebrated Mother’s Day by 1911, but it was not until Wilson lobbied Congress in 1914 that Mother’s Day was officially set on the second Sunday of every May. In his first Mother’s Day proclamation, Wilson stated that the holiday offered a chance to “[publicly express] our love and reverence for the mothers of our country.”

My mom would LOVE to win a consultation on stress free entertaining, how do I know? Because she left this site up for me to see on her computer when she knew I needed to use it for homework. It figures because she is always telling me that “no one will know what you want unless you tell them”, or in this case, SHOW them. Thanks, Ben Woznicki

First of all, A+ for Ben Woznicki for taking the hint. How cute is that? I’ll second that Marti W nomination :-)

I would also like to nominate my mother-in-law, Dorothy Caruso, for this gift. She doesn’t get enough gifts or treats in her life that are centered around her…as most moms and I think she would just love it.

The “mom” I would like to nominate is my sister-in-law. She seems to often get stuck with all of the pressure if hosting and planning the holidays. She goes above and beyond to make it special for each on of us, from my 91 year old grandma to our 4 year old nephew, she tries to always have something for everyone. It would be so nice for her to have a little help just once.
