Word of the Year 2012

2012 Word for the Year

I have never really been a fan of New Year Resolutions. I would make the same ones each January, then at the end of the year have guilt if I didn’t live up to my expectations from 11 months prior. However, about 5 years ago I decided I still wanted to have something to represent my individual goals and hopes for the year but it needed to be more like a guide rather than a rule. It needed to be flexible enough to adapt to all that can happen over the course of one year and yet still be constant through those same changes. I began selecting one word that would be My Word of the Year.

This word has become a test of sorts for the way to answer my personal and business decisions. Will this project bring me ______? Will this person bring ______ to my life? Will this bring ______ to my relationship? I have selected words based on what I wish to achieve in the upcoming year or what I would like to change from the previous year. Previous words have been: PEACE, NOW      {I skipped last year unintentional. Although it was a very full year, looking back I can see that it was missing a word for focus.}

In the past I have started the year with 3 or 4 words and let them settle in for the first month or so. But this year I started in December thinking of words that would represent all the things I wanted to bring to my life in 2012. And last night it suddenly came to me! Almost so obvious that I had a V-8 moment. 2012 as you may have guessed will be GROW. Of course! This is completely in line with many of the aspects I want to improve and focus on for this year ~ Grow our Family, Grow my business, Grow more seeds/plants/bulbs, Grow a community garden, Grow my knowledge by taking more classes, Grow my mind and body through exercising, Grow my relationships with friends & family, and on and on!

With my Word of the Year solidified by January 2nd, 2012 is on track to be one of the best yet. What will your word be??

Come Grow with Me!
