The BooK has Arrived! An Appealing Plan Book Launch Video.

I am super excited to share the news with you…. the book arrived. It is real and in person!! We are in the process of updating the official book page with information like event dates, local purchase locations, shopping and planning lists to download for each occasion, An Appealing Plan book clubs and much more to come so be sure to check back often but in the meantime…

I was doing a little fall decorating around the house and my monogrammed white pumpkins inspired me to create a launch video! It is quick and to the point check it out and let me know what you think!

Passion to Print: The Final Day

It is has been almost a year since I sat down for a casual lunch simply to catch up with Heather Stalker, of Crave Creative Group, when during our conversation the spark of an idea of partnering to write a book came about. We scheduled another coffee date and we where off! Little did either of us know what the next 10 months would hold.

Today the final edits are taking place to the book, thanks to Nicole Wayland, of Ford Editing in Washington D. C. who has recently become part of the dream team, and tomorrow if all goes as planned the giant file will be uploaded to the printer. I have a black and white copy sitting on my desk with blue, red and black ink edits on most pages, but we are saving the color version for the real deal. It is hard to believe this part of the journey is almost over.

Over the last 10 months we have met almost weekly to either talk through the schedule, set up and shoot content or work on the layout, it has been an incredible journey requiring much time and patience for all parties {including our families}. But now today, the day before all those hours of work will be sent to the printer feels strange. Perhaps because there is still the unknown. Will the image colors look the same in print as they do on the screens? Will the layout translate the same in print? Will the paper and print quality we hope for be accurate in the final printing? Still so many unknowns. Still so much to learn about the next stages of this book’s life.

And yet even with all these unknowns looming out there, there are things that I know for certain on this day. I know with out a doubt that all of this has been worth it. I know more than ever that I love what I do and even more importantly – I have a much clearer vision of why I do it. I also know I could not have made it to this point with out a wonderful partner with me to set deadlines and pull back the reigns when the book needed it.

In the next week I will have the first copy of the book in my hands and begin shipping out the pre-orders to all of the amazing supporters, and kickstarter supporters who believed in this vision and then open the sales up to the retail market. I think that is when it will set in, the reality of this dream coming true.

There is much to plan in the coming weeks; a video launch series, live launch parties, and hands-on book workshops, I will still be a busy girl but I couldn’t be happier. Stay tuned!

Passion To Print Day 28: PARTY TIME! WE DID IT!

We did it! With the support of this amazing community we met our Kickstarter funding goal yesterday afternoon just around 2:30PM!

As I sat at my desk and watched the number switch over to $5,002, I paused and started to tear up with gratitude. I have been SO incredibly overwhelmed by the response from the backer community, from your financial pledges to personal notes to the social sharing, this entire project has been an incredible journey. I truly appreciate your kind words and belief in this book.

With only a few days remaining to pledge {the campaign officially closes on Friday July 11th at 7:11pm} there is still time to pre-order books, upgrade to a private session or encourage others to. Or perhaps you realized you need one more book to give your neighbor? You can upgrade your pledge at anytime before close.

Now you may be asking…So what will happen with the “extra money”? Although we have exceed the $5,000 funding goal, all the funds will continue to go into the first run of the book. The large portion of our funding was in the form of book sales, so for each pledge it mainly covers the printing, shipping, kickstarter and amazon fees. I have been so involved in the promotion of the Kickstarter over the last month that now it’s time to get back to writing, selecting the perfect images, testing final recipes, creating the final front + back covers, and pulling all my resource + thank you pages together. I can’t wait to get back to it.

This weekend we will be holding our final group shoot and creating Christmas in July! That’s right, a tree trimming party complete with a tree and a festive holiday cocktail. Be sure to look for it on the Passion To Print pages of the blog.

Passion To Print: Final Days of Kickstarter Campaign

A heartfelt thank you to you all for your support of the Kickstarter project! We are heading into our final 8 days of pledging and we are currently 65% funded towards the $5,000 goal.

As I mentioned, we are shooting the last of the sections of the book this month and a few days ago I brought together friends and their families for a summer gathering on the river complete with crabs, corn, craft beer and a selection of summer berries. The day was perfect, the shoot was a success and we ended the day on a boat ride on the river. Read more about the day on the post page here.

Writing and shooting for this book have reinforced my love and passion for celebrating everyday, for gathering friends and truly connecting with each other and my surroundings. This is part of the journey I did not expect, but am blessed to be able to experience it.

Thanks to all your support, we’ve raised over $3,000 and have the best backers I could ask for however, we still have a way to go to reach our goal of covering the cost of the first printing – as you know we need to raise the full $5,000 to receive any funding at all. This means we only need to sell 52 more books! I know we can do it but I need your help, if you are considering supporting the book please head over to secure your pledge today. Passion to Print Day 9: Behind The Scenes Summer Celebration

DAY 9!!

How is this possible that we are already 9 days into the kickstarter project? Wasn’t it just Day 1??Time is flying by and my feelings of gratitude and love are doubling by the day. Your support has been amazing! Thank you.

Today I am sharing a few behind the scenes images of our latest photoshoot, a tablescape and recipes for a Summer Celebration.

This table was inspired by the amazing pink peonies I was able to scoop up locally as well as a fabulous blue and white table linen perfect for summer with a casual but chic flare.

Photoshoots are SO glamours, don’t you think??

Well maybe not but they are always fun and really bring out the creative spirit in me. Inspired by the pink & blue pops of color, I had to bring out the blue Waterford crystal wine glasses to complete the story.

This tablescape just screams celebration and I was ready to pour the white wine, snack on the Orzo Salad and bask in the suns rays as soon as the pictures started.

We have another shoot planned for tomorrow and this time we get to share the fun with friends. Stay tuned for an update with pictures from the gathering.

DAY 1: Passion To Print

And away we go! Day 1 of my Passion to Print series, to document my 30 day journey through the book pre-sale kickstarter campaign, and perhaps beyond, while enjoying my favorite of all the seasons, Summer, keeping in mind the message of the book, to Celebrate Everyday, AND still doing all my usual work with clients. {Not familiar with Kickstarter and how it works? Check out my recent post here to learn more. }

Day 1 started off with a jump when the alarm went off, see we have just returned from a few days in Vero Beach with friends and even though it was only a few days getting up “early” to start the day was slightly shocking to the system. It is amazing how quickly you can adjust to sleeping in and sitting by the water sipping on cold beverages brought to you by friendly staff members ready to help you with any request. {Thanks to Jesse at the Vero Beach Hotel for everything if you are reading.}

The downtime was amazing. Great friends, food and fun. Admittedly lacking in the flower category. But as we say… “next time”. {I usually bring flowers for the room but forgot them at home …}

Back to reality and most importantly the launch day for the kickstarter campaign. Tonight at 7PM, if all goes as planned and the Mercury Retrograde vibes aren’t messing with me too much, I will click the big green launch button and away we go.

But I also still I need your help to make this a reality.

We are really hoping to sell as many copies of the book as possible in the first week, so we can go viral and get on Kickstarter’s home page. Tonight, June 11th 7PM, when the campaign launches, I would appreciate a little social media lovefest from you all. Help me spread the word everywhere – on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and by email. The first week is the most important to get the word out according to everything I have learned about successful campaigns, your support is SO appreciated.
